A solemn blessing of the First Phase of DMIRC will be held on 23rd April, 2017 Divine Mercy Sunday. It will be blessed as “DAYA NIWAS” – an Administrative and Residential wing of the DMIRC.

This is the work of the Holy Spirit who worked with us as Fr. Lawrence Mascarenhas a Priest of Goa Diocese co-operated with the Lords Spirit in his life. Way back in 1996, a prophery was given to him by a blind intercessor at Potta Retreat Centre, Muringoor that “a house will be built for the Lords Glory.” Fr. Lawrence Read Isiah 41:10, Believe it and the Lord will fulfill His promise – he was told. The clear vision of the Lord holding his hands, directing him and pushing him forward was revealed. He dreamt it for ten long years until the Lord revealed Himself to built the house on 4th December 2004. Knowing not what the future holds but trusting in the Lord and the Holy Spirit as his Partner and Helper he formed the Divine Mercy Intercessory Prayer Group and the Ministry. Subsequently a Divine Mercy Charitable Trust (DMCT), was formed and was conducting parish intercessory ministeries until the Lord brought Bishop Alwyn Barreto, the Bishop of Sindhurg Diocese in his life, who was also given a mandate by the Lord to built a Retreat Centre. The two of them met at Pilerne Church in 2006, and a search for a suitable Retreat land began. After showing / proposing 9 big and great lands for the Retreat construction, to which Fr. Lawrence was not committal finally, a proposal was brought for the forsaken land in the remotest corners of Banda, Kas – Sherle.

Five of our team members with Fr. Lawrence went to see the proposed land. No sooner we landed Fr. Lawrence exclaimed “This is the God choosen land, I have seen the Lord with outstretched arms welcoming us.” There was great joy amongst us and the intercessory prayers were poured onto the land for its cleansing and the work began for its acquirement. On 28th May 2011, the foundation stone was laid by Bishop Alwyn Barreto and on 6th November 2011 a Retreat Apostolate began. A temporary shed was built for about 1,000 people with limited residential facilities. People generously contributed to make this dream a reality. Regular Retreats of three day duration were held and monthly Adorations and Intercessory services were conducted. Night vigils and warrior intercessions of the Divine Mercy intercessors with the local people were immensely poured out to sanctify the land.

After five long years the construction of the Centre began on 29th September 2015, the stone was blessed by Fr. Andrew D’Melo, the Vicar General of Sindhurg Diocese.

In three phases the construction was planned. The First Phase – is DAYA NIWAS – an Administrative and Residential block, Phase II – DAYA SANGAM – The meeting Halls block and Phase III – DAYA SAGAR – The Divine Mercy Church.

The Chairman of the Divine Mercy Charitable Trust is Bishop Alwyn Barreto, the Spiritual Advisor of the Trust is Fr. Joe Santiago, the Director of the Centre is Fr. Simon Andrade and the Visionary of the Divine Mercy Intercessory Retreat Centre is Fr. Lawrence Mascarenhas.

We are happy that on the 23rd April 2017, DAYA NIWAS will be blessed by His Grace Bishop Alwyn Barreto and the solemn Eucharistic celebration will be presided by His Grace Anil Couto, the Archbishop of Delhi and Secretary General of CCBI.

The people of Sindhurg, Goa, Pune and Mumbai have visited this upcoming Retreat Centre during the Retreat days. The Priests of Sindhurg Diocese and Goa as well have been supporting this DMIR Centre, all for Gods Glory.
